Decorating your Uni Room -
Following on from my chat with my daighter Ella on my radio show 'Living a Colourful Life' on Cotswolds Radio I have complied a list of links to all the products we chatted about so that you can easily find and make use of them.
We'd love to hear any usefull hacks you have that we can share with people too
Curtains - We chatted about adding a soft sheer curtain to you room. Ella had a very large window with a blackout blind that was fine and functional but by adding a white simple rod and sheer curtains this created a softness to the room and also allowed her to open the blind fully and still have a little pricivy whist letting light into the room.
We bought an Ikea simple pole LINK
and secured it to the wall with Command hooks LINK
We talked about storage and how important this is - bathroom are small so anywhere that you can add storage solutions is great - these baskets are great for showers to keep all of your bottles and soaps off the floor area
These ones above have suction backs to secure to tiles but if you find you love one that doesnt have this - then its no problem. You can buy suction hooks to hang any type of shower basket you find and love. This one below for example is a wall fixed one but you can purchse hooks linked below to fit to tiles.

Drawer dividers are a great idea too - for socks and also bits and bobs - keeping drawers sectioned off makes it easier to find things! LINK
We chatted a lot about creating a comforting space and making it feel welcoming and homely - lighting is key to this so adding in different types of lighting will really help with making a room feel lovely.
These touch lights that stick to surfaces are a great addition to a room - make sure you get a warm light (not bright white as its too harsh!) LINK
Ella also mentioned how much she loved having a Chrismas tree in her room over Xmas time as she loved the feel of the fairy lights - so why not include these in your scheme all year round. Either plug in or battery operated ones - there is so much choice out there and again this is adding in some lovely mood boosting light effect!
Other great ideas that Ella and some of her Uni friends shared as there must have buys were -
A FAN - Be mindful of the size of your room as you dont want the fan to get in the way - but a great idea as these rooms can get stuffy!
REED DIFFUSERS - You will not be able to use candles in your room so a reed difuser is a great idea to keep a room smelling lovely - remember its key to ignite those senses for our mood - so light/smell/touch is incrediably importat for our welbeing
MATTRESS TOPPER - A must have! the mattresses are not great so this addition will make sleeping so much better
THINGS THAT REMIND YOU OF FAMILY - Pictures - frame them so they can then be fixed to the wall using command strips
EXTENTION LEAD - Really important as you dont know where the plugs are or how many - get a couple and different lengths
MINI Fridge - This is a nice addition if your room doesnt have a mini kitchen
SPEAKER - A good quality speaker is a really nice thing to have
LAUNDRY BAG - Something thats large but easy to fold away and store with good handles
CUTLERY TRAY - you will have a drawer but no tray inside so this is a good thing to buy
STORAGE BOXES - Under bed storage. Best to buy these once you have seen the room and how much space available
HOOKS - Command strip hooks. Super useful for hanging things

NOTE - We had a few technical issues at the start of the show so there is about 2-3 mins of 'Dead Air' at the start but all good after that - enjoy!
Hope this has been useful and that your Uni journey is a fantastic adventure - goodluck x
