What we've been up to
Recently, we had the privilege of designing BoxTree’s new office space. BoxTree Gifts are a mail-order gift box service that source ethical and sustainable goodies. Business has boomed in the last year, and they have decided to expand into an amazing new barn conversion at Elkstone Studio, just outside of Cheltenham. Now it's finished we are very excited to share the before and after shots with you.
BoxTree wanted a fresh, creative space which reflected their brand ethos and was an inspiring and uplifting place to work. The bright, spacious, and generous proportions of the barn conversion are enhanced by Boxtree’s colour palette of green and white, creating a fresh environment where creativity can flow. For this project, we drew inspiration from English country gardens, incorporating touches of nature in both subtle, and more obvious ways. For example, you can see the gorgeous wallpaper we’ve decided to use in the dining space, along with terracotta pots and greenery to give the feel of a traditional Potting Shed.

The focal point of the main office space, is the hanging trellis filled with faux foliage, and large vintage bulbs. This botanical display hangs over the centre of the room and has the effect of zoning the main meeting space. Barn conversions have spectacular, high and grand ceilings which make for an airy and open feel. However, by just dropping the ceiling in one area by using this hanging trellis, we have been able to really define the use of a section of this large space. This is so important in offices, but also something to consider in domestic interiors, where the different areas of a room have a different use or function.

Before and after shots of BoxTree Barns innovations space! BoxTree Barn is the company's newest venture offering a fully-equipped meeting room for up to twenty people including a coffee lounge and a bar. "Your space to use as you need, for as long as you need it." Here we separated the bar area and the meeting space by adding this tall shelving unit behind the sofa which is also provides the perfect opportunity to accessorise and really bring the space to life.
A little glimpse of the cosy bar area in the BoxTree barn where you can relax and recharge… every office needs a bar!
Beautiful throw cushions, like this butterfly cushion from The Range, are a great way to add a touch of colour while engaging the overarching inspiration for the space.

What else are we working on?
We are always nice and busy at Floella, so we wanted to share with you some photos from another project that we are just finishing in Cheltenham. We are adding the final touches, and thought you would be interested in this new design idea that we used for disguising sockets and switches on a wallpapered wall.
For this client, we used this gorgeous wallpaper from mind the gap. We wanted to make sure the sockets did not detract from the paper, so disguised them by carefully cutting the removed wallpaper to the shape of the socket, ensuring accurate pattern matching, and then covered it with a clear socket to create a seamless finish. It’s a little labour intensive, but we really feel that the result is worth it – especially when the wallpaper is as beautiful as this one.

What else are we working on?
Recently we've been working with River bespoke to create a bespoke live edge table for a London music studio. The best part of working with this company (for us and the client) is you are so fully involved in the whole process; from selecting the pieces of timber, to the curves on the edges of the table. We worked on every stage together, which was incredible!
